Letters of Support

The following letters have been authored by AFSE supporters from all across the nation. If you would like to contribute a supportive letter, that's fantastic! Here are some suggested steps to follow:
  1. Address Key Decision Makers: We recommend you send your letter to these decision makers at NEA, as well as any other pertinent individuals within your state or local affiliate. Additionally, please be sure to send a final copy of your letter to us at: afseunion@gmail.com.

  2. Highlight the work of AFSE members: How have AFSE members helped you and your colleagues build powerful state and local affiliates that fight for the public education and schools our students deserve? Include these details in your letter!

  3. Call Out NEA Management's Bad Behavior: AFSE members have been without a contract since June 1st, 2023. We have faced anti-union behavior from NEA, now under investigation by the National Labor Relations Board, including Bad Faith Bargaining (Case Number: 05-CA-325272), Refusal and/or Delay in Providing Information (Case Number: 05-CA-325782), and Coercive Actions (Case Number: 05-CA-329150). Make sure management knows this behavior is unacceptable for any employer, especially the largest labor union in the country!

  4. Include Key Issues: In the past decade, AFSE members have effectively had a 25% reduction in pay due to inflation. During this time, we received a roughly 5% increase in cost-of-living adjustments, while inflation increased by 30%. Furthermore, AFSE members have progressed just one step on the salary scale in these ten years, while NEA managers have received regular increases. We are also fighting for regular contracts for those performing regular work, reserving temporary positions for truly temporary needs.
